Oct 18, 2017 I started getting this on many files from.dmg to.jpg files after I migrated from my 2009 iMac 27' to a new iMac Pro (8 core 2TB SSD). All JPGs would generate previews and thumbnails but a double click soluble generate the 'is damaged and can't be opened' dialog with a recommendation to delete the file. Feb 13, 2019 I was having a different problem than initially described in this post, but step 4 solved my problem. Since updating to 10.14.6 from either.5 or.4 (can’t remember which), I’ve been having this issue where, if I download an updated version of an application and drop it into the applications folder, overwriting the old version, that new application gets put into “App Translocation. “Application.app” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the trash. Mac OS Mojave Gatekeeper is not your friend. The problem lies with Gatekeeper in Mac OS Mojave, which is a security feature that is Integrated within the Mac OS. The Bark Desktop app will be able to open now! To open the Bark Desktop App, navigate to Finder, select Applications on the left column, and open Bark. NOTE: If still no luck, you may have to check that your settings allow you to download apps from outside the Mac App Store.
Important Note: Using APFS is REQUIRED in Mojave in order to receive system updates via the normal Software Update method. If you choose to continue using macOS Extended (Journaled) as your filesystem type, you will NOT receive System Updates via System Preferences. 10.14.6 can be updated normally via Software Update if using an APFS volume, and will need to be patched using an installer volume created with Mojave Patcher version 1.3.2 or later after installing.

10.14.4 adds new changes that ARE NOT patchable by the post-install tool of Mojave Patcher v1.2.3 and older! Before updating to 10.14.4, you you will need to use the latest Mojave Patcher version to create a new installer volume, using the 10.14.4 installer app. Then, update to 10.14.4, either by installing via Software Update, or by just using the installer volume you've created to install.

10.14.1/macOS Extended (Journaled) volumes
The Mojave 10.14.1 update does NOT install properly on unsupported machines, and could result in an unbootable OS. If you want to install the 10.14.1 update (and are not currently running 10.14.1), perform the following steps:
• Download the latest version of Mojave Patcher
• Download the installer using the Tools menu of Mojave Patcher
• Create a patched USB installer
• Boot from that, and install 10.14.1 onto the volume containing an older release.
• Once done, apply the post-install patches, and you should now be on 10.14.1.

Safari can download most types of files, but if you have trouble with a file, try these suggestions.
If Safari is still downloading the file, wait for it to finish. You can’t open a file while it’s being downloaded.
If the download is paused, resume it. Show the downloads list by clicking the Show Downloads button , then click the Resume button for the paused download.
If you see a message that the app can’t be opened because it’s from an unidentified developer or wasn’t downloaded from the Mac App Store, you can open the app by overriding the settings in Security & Privacy preferences.
Sometimes a download is incomplete because the file was damaged. Try downloading it again.
Make sure you have the app needed to open the file. If you do, the file may have been corrupted during the download. Delete it, then try downloading it again.
The downloaded file may be a compressed archive or disk image that contains the file you want. If the file is from a trusted site, double-click it to decompress it.
If the trouble began after you installed a Safari plug-in, you can disable or block the plug-in.
