The process remains same on Mac except that you will have a disk image file ‘googlechrome.dmg’ instead of executable installer file. Once downloaded, double click on the .dmg file to start the installation. Drag and drop the Google Chrome app to the Applications folder to complete the installation.

Updating Chrome

By default, Chrome will automatically update to the latest version when connected to the internet. You can also go to ‘chrome://settings/help’ URL in the address bar to get the updates.

Uninstalling Chrome

If you have problem with Chrome for any reasons then uninstall and reinstall to check the problem can be resolved. On Mac, simply drag and drop the Chrome app to the Trash bin to delete the app.

Follow the below process on Windows:

• Search for ‘control panel’ and open Control Panel desktop app.
• Change the ‘View by’ option to ‘Category’ in Control Panel.
• Select ‘Uninstall a program’ option under ‘Programs’ category.
• Choose Google Chrome app and click on ‘Uninstall’.

Chrome Developer and Canary Version

Google Chrome browser has many versions. You should always use the stable and secured version as explained above. However, if you are a developer or interested in knowing the experimental features in advance then you can try the developer or canary version.

Go to the Chrome developer or canary site and download the installation file.

You can install Chrome canary version in parallel to the stable version on the same computer. This is a good option that you can use both browsers for different purposes. The canary Chrome version will look like yellow dimmed icon compared to the bright stable Chrome version.
