The button isn’t shown if the downloads list is empty.
Do any of the following:
- Pause a download: Click the Stop button to the right of the filename in the downloads list. To resume, click the Resume button .
- Find a downloaded item on your Mac: Click the magnifying glass next to the filename in the downloads list. If you move a file or change the download location after downloading it, Safari can’t find the file.
  Tip: To change where downloaded items are saved on your Mac, choose Safari > Preferences, click General, then click the “File download location” pop-up menu and choose a location.

My wife purchased a 15' late 2011 MacBook Pro last year to replace her PC. She loves her Pogo games. Recently, everytime there is new OS update, the Pogo games won't work, needs Java. So we have to wait for a new Java update to resume playing her Pogo games. I read the Apple Support about the Java threats and how serious they are to the Mac community. I understand but. What can you/we do to get this resolved to get the Apple approved Java update so I and many Pogo games users get to use Pogo games again and soon? Please help!

I went around and around with this last night and here's what I found…
Even with the latest version of Java installed, the plug-in is still disabled by default. I could not figure out how to enable it via system preferences or Safari's preferences, but I knew it was indeed installed and working because I could use Java via Firefox with no problems.
Here is how I was able to enable the plug in. Go to http://www.javatester.org/version.html At the top of the page you will see 'Inactive Plug-in' if Java is not enabled on your Mac. Click on the 'Inactive Plug-In' and you will be prompted as to whether you want to run Java. Click Run. It will appear to hang up loading java with the loading 'circle'. Refresh the browswer, select Run again, and voila!
Head on over to Pogo and enjoy! If anyone figures out how to enable the plug-in via System Preferences or Safari directly, please post here..

This only started happening after the latest Java update for OSX 10.6.8, which I installed on Feb. 24, 2013. All of T-mobile's pages look like this, except if I go to www.my.t-mobile.com's home page. Then I get a normal page, but after I log in, I get more wierd rendering issues again. So here's the page that appeared normal today:

So, here's more on my point..
I put in the 3 captured screen shots in my original post above. I used Grab to copy the web pages, saved them to my desktop as .tiff files and dropped them in for others to view. This morning, I went to look at my post and instead of seeing the screen shots, I see 3 tiny blue boxes with question marks. When I left click on the boxes, nothing happens. When I right click on them, I get options that are not helpful:

I checked my Safari Preferences and I see I have checked, under Security, Enable plug-ins, Enable Java, Enable JavaScript.I have to have Java enabled to run a few things.
Did something get corrupted in Safari?
Am I'm missing some plug-ins?
How do I get them back?
I'm going to search the internet. Well, after doing the search, I still don't think I've got what I need. Thinking I might need to reinstall Safari. If this is the case, will I loose all my Bookmarks?

It was problably something else. Few malware authors ever bothered to write PowerPC code. Having intel chips makes things a bit easier because the malware can be cross-platform a low-level. The only thing they have to worry about are operating system differences, not chip differences.
I suggest asking your question in a forum dedicated to that model machine. There are still plenty of people using those machines and have experience with such problems. It is likely just hardware incompatibilities. Older hardware sometimes doesn't want to talk with newer hardware.
Installed Java update three days ago. Now, can't play yahoo games as it's now blocked by security settings. Already have tried moving Java security to Medium and adding yahoo.games.com (including web address of game) as a 'Permissive exception'. Also tried removing java and installing older version. Still nothing. Really Apple?!? What's your beef with yahoo games?

all of the older update versions of Java SE 7 can be found here. If 7u45 also didn’t work with your Yahoo! games, you can choose from any of the even older versions there as well.

You can update itunes to the most recent available version for leopard without updating to Lion.
It looks like Security Update 2013-001 (Lion) may have disabled the DVI on my 17' MacBook Pro .. 2006 vintage .. it worked fine before the upgrade. Tested port with HD monitor using an HDMI adapter that worked before. Thanks for the help!

You are running Windows, so yes. I like Microsoft's built in protection and how 8.1 is 'hardened' but I also install Malwarebytes. I will not use Kaspersky anymore. But you do need something. And 8.1 is more secure than prior versions definitely but there were some major zero-day security updates on this month's 'Patch Tuesday.'

If your iMac still has not recognized the usb modem, I would use the troubleshooting for Yosemite USB issues in the following article:
OS X Yosemite: If a USB device isn’t working
If the device is connected to a USB hub:
Make sure the device and the hub are the same speed. Connect USB 3.0 SuperSpeed devices to a USB 3.0 SuperSpeed HUB, USB 2.0 Hi-Speed devices to a USB 2.0 Hi-Speed hub, and so on.
If the device doesn’t have a power cord and is plugged into another USB device that doesn’t have a power cord:
Try plugging the device directly into your computer’s USB port or into a USB device that does have a power cord. You might need to disconnect and reconnect the other device as well, if it has stopped responding.
If you have many devices connected to your Mac:
Disconnect all USB devices except the device you’re testing, an Apple keyboard, and an Apple mouse. Make sure that the device is connected directly to the computer, and that any hubs or extension cables are disconnected. If you can use the device now, the problem may be with one of the other USB devices or hubs you had connected to your computer. Try reconnecting them, one by one, to your computer. When you find the device causing the problem, review its documentation for further troubleshooting steps.
Verify that the device appears in System Information:
Choose Apple menu > About This Mac. In the window that appears, click Overview, then click the System Report button to open System Information.
In the window that appears, see if the USB device is listed below Hardware in the Contents list. If the device appears but does not work, review the device’s documentation for further troubleshooting steps.
Restart apps:
Quit and restart any apps that use the device.

I have a MS Office for Mac CD, how do I install the software onto my MacBook Pro (Retina Display)? It does not have a CD drive.
If all else fails, try this. i used to do it all the time before. might or might not work with the new office.
if you have access to another computer with a cd/dvd rom, copy the entire contents of the cd on a thumb drive.
insert the thumb drive in your MB and do the install from there.
However, if you have the newer version of MS Office, Bandit's suggestion is much better.
Is it possible to run two different versions of Apple operating system (for ex. 10.6.8 and 10.9) on a MacBook Pro, either on the same disk or from an external hard disk? If so, where would I find the details? (In order to be able to use the older applications no longer supported in 10.9)
If you want to add a second partition to the internal drive (in Disk Utility, select the drive, then open the partition tab and just click the + button), you should first be sure that you will have enough room to accommodate whatever the second volume will be. I am currently doing this for Snow and Mountain Lion.
To get to whatever volume is not the startup disk, restart and hold down option/alt at the chime, which will bring up a selection of the two volumes. Use the left or right arrow keys to select it and then hit enter/return.

Pages died today. Just downloaded the latest update 2 days ago. Last night shutting down my very new MacBook Pro Retina, Pages stopped shut down. Today Pages will not open, all my Pages docs cannot open. Help please! Anybody have a fix?
You probably have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5 in your Applications folder, will open Pages '09 files but will alter/damage them. It can not open Pages '08 files.
Pages '08/'09 in your Applications/iWork folder which can not open Pages 5 files.
When you were shutting down you probably had an unsaved document open.
You probably are opening the wrong versions of Pages to open the wrong document format.
Pages 5 has had over 90+ features removed.
Most users are going back to Pages 09 whilst Apple sorts this out.
