Dnd Sneak Attack Extra Dmg
If my character sneak attacks with a Scorching Ray, is the extra sneak attack damage additional fire damage or regular damage?
And.. can I sneak attack with a ray that doesn't do hitpoint damage, such as a Ray of Enfeeblement? If so how does that work? Does the target take the Strength damage plus regular damage, or extra strength damage, or what?
Also any hints on building this character effectively would be appreciated. Our party has another wizard (and Evoker) so my character's primary role is as the rogue, but with some spell-casting tricks up her sleeve. She is specializing in Transmutation and primarily planning on doing buffs to help her sneak attack effectively, etc. but also things like invisibility and sneak attacks with the ray spells.
She has a +1 rapier and weapon finesse. I also took nimble fingers to mitigate the effect of only having 1 level of rogue as a 4th level character who is the party's only rogue..
Thanks!
Dnd 5e Rogue Sneak Attack Chart
Once per turn, when a rogue with the Sneak Attack class feature attacks with a hand crossbow, shortbow, or weapon from the light blade or sling weapon groups, and hits an enemy granting combat advantage to the rogue, the attack deals extra damage. The amount of extra damage is determined by the rogue's level. Typically a rogue with 18 Dex should get the following with a dagger: (1d4+4)+2d6=dmg. As daggers are also light this means that you can wield two together and add the base damage, without modifiers (1d4), of the second to the first one's damage with modifiers(1d4+4). So with Sneak Attack and two daggers that is typically (1d4+4)+1d4+2d6=dmg. Once per turn, you can deal an extra 1d6 damage to one creature you hit with an attack if you have advantage on the attack roll. The attack must use a finesse or a ranged weapon. Notice how despite the name “Sneak Attack” you don’t need to be hidden or undetected to land a sneak attack, a foe just needs to be “distracted”.
