Its not useful against monsters with thick hides/armor but which weapon is, other than those with pure damage like Gunlance Shells, Impact Phial, etc. I wouldn't mind picking up an HBG if this is the case. I think I have 3 close range up atm. Also have a single attack augment, because I ran out of warrior stones. Just get enough recoil mods until you get to 'recoil +2' on your ammo lay out screen when press r3 in the weapon select menu. Bowguns have an optimal range and the damage generally rises and falls before and after this range (so for example if you are too close you'll do 5 damage, too far 5, just right 7). Neither Long Range Up nor Close Range Up shifts this range, they just increase the damages done at certain parts of the range.

Recoil

Deviation

Combat Tips

  • While HBG cannot side-step like the LBG, the player can still roll () to move out of dangerous positions.

Each Wyvernblast can create 5 explosions, and they can be ignited from friendly fire. The stronger the igniting attack is, the more powerful the explosions will be. Wyvernblast ammo regenerates over time.

Combat Tips
