CORE STATS

The reason why you should use dual katana in low stance is because it does the most hits per second. The fire damage is applied to each hit. The more hits you get per second, the more fire damage you inflict. If you use a slow weapon like an axe, it would do 30 fire damage per.

There are 8 core stats, and most of them boost specific weapon and armor types more than others. You should chose your core stats carefully based on the weapons and armor type you plan to equip. Don't equip weapons that your build gives D+ or worse, and prefer B+ for your primary weapon.

  • Edit: skill damage might increase the fire damage but I don't think Carnage can. 1 point 1 year ago. A Reddit community dedicated to Nioh and the upcoming Nioh 2, action RPGs developed by Team Ninja and published by Koei Tecmo (PC) and Sony Computer Entertainment (PS4) for release in.
  • Seems like Agility DMG bonus A has better result than Weight DMG bonus A while Ninjutsu DMG bonus A gives the poorest result. I thought Weight DMG bonus suppose to gives better boost when you're over 30.1 weight. By the way Agi Bonus was on Tsunonotsuki Bow that has change to attack strength 'A' and Weight Bonus was on Tate-Ugachi bow.
  • May 08, 2017  Nioh has a few areas where it can be a little obtuse – that’s perhaps part of its ultra-difficult charm. The elemental system, in particular, is difficult to grok right off the bat.

These stats can be allocated on the Level Up interface when you acquire enough AMRITA.

The WEAPONS column shows scaling based off equipment stats (CHANGE TO ATTACK). It doesn't account for scaling from special effects, or sub-types that may have slightly different scaling (e.g. Hammers vs Axes).

The ARMOR column indicates the stat is a requirement for that armor type.

The SECONDARY column is an estimate on each stats scaling per level. This was determined by comparing each stat relative to one another when leveled to 56 individually. They're not an exact reference of in-game scaling, but an estimation to give you a sense of how stats scale per level.

TIP - If you don't want to equip multiple weapons you can focus on one or two core stats instead of three or four to increase your specialization in those weapons. That said, HEART will probably influence most builds because it's the only stat that has a monopoly on the very valuable resource of KI. (Whereas LIFE can be obtained from many stats, not just BODY)

SECONDARY STATS

Increasing core stats will increase secondary stats. These stats may also be affected by equipped armor and weapons, and active status effects.

IMPORTANT - When you view these stats from the Level Up interface, they do not reflect your currently equipped armor and weapons (with the exception of the Attack stats), and they do not reflect active status effects. When you view these stats from the Character Status interface, they will reflect your currently equipped armor and weapons, and active status effects.

OTHER STATS

These stats can be viewed on the Character Status interface.

STATDESCRIPTION
LEVELUsing the Level Up interface, you can raise your level by spending AMRITA and increasing your core stats. Your level is one factor considered in multiplayer matchmaking.
AMRITACurrency that can be spent to increase your level on the Level Up interface. Amrita is always acquired after defeating enemies, but also other means. Amrita can also be acquired through making offerings at a Shrine. You drop all your Amrita at the location of your death, and if you die before you can recover your Amrita it becomes permanently lost.
EQUIPMENT WEIGHTThe total weight of your equipped armor and weapons. This value divided by your EQUIPMENT WEIGHT MAX determines your EQUIPMENT WEIGHT RATE, which in turn determines your AGILITY.
AGILITYYour EQUIPMENT WEIGHT RATE determines your Agility rating. Below 30% gives 'A' rating, Below 70% gives 'B' rating, and at or above 70% gives 'C' rating. The better the rating, the faster and farther your dodges perform, and the quicker your KI regenerates.
GOLDCurrency used for services at the Blacksmith or blessings from Kodama at a Shrine. Gold can be acquired from defeated enemies, treasures, or selling items at the Blacksmith.
REPUTATION POINTSYou can acquire Titles in Nioh after completing mission objectives. Titles can be viewed from the Titles interface from the in-mission menu. Titles will reward Reputation Points, and accumulating Reputation Points will reward PRESTIGE POINTS.
PRESTIGE POINTSPrestige Points are rewarded after accumulating certain amounts of REPUTATION POINTS. Prestige Points can be spent on permanent character bonuses from Agyo or Ungyo prestiges.

Master the elements to exploit enemy weaknesses.

Nioh has a few areas where it can be a little obtuse – that’s perhaps part of its ultra-difficult charm. The elemental system, in particular, is difficult to grok right off the bat.

You can think of Nioh’s elements as status ailments; each of them inflicts a persistent detrimental effect on their target, whether that’s William or his foes. While some are definitely more useful than others, each has its uses and once you know an enemy’s vulnerabilities and resistances you can target them with elemental attacks to hammer through difficult encounters.

Unfortunately, Nioh itself makes no effort to explain how elements work. Thanks to a tweet from the official Japanese Nioh twitter account we have all the intel though – read on for more.

Understanding Nioh’s Elements & Elemental Effects

The list below shows the status effects inflicted by a successful attack from each of Nioh’s elemental types:

  • The Fire Element deals damage to enemies over time when they’re hit with it.
  • The Water Element increases the amount of damage enemies take over time; hit them with water, then light them up with more attacks to see the bonuses.
  • The Wind Element is my personal favourite, and reduces the enemy’s resistance to break and ability to block/parry. Basically, use this to wear enemies down with relentless attacks.
  • The Lightning Element makes enemies weaker in a way that’s particularly cool for certain types of difficult foe – it significantly slows their attack and movement speed, meaning you can more easily dodge them, kite around them and so on.
  • The Earth Element is another favourite, as while it doesn’t have an immediate impact like some others, it doubles the enemy’s Ki Consumption. This is crippling, and can in turn lead to enemies being exhausted more often and thus open to some devastatingly powerful attacks on your part. This is great if you’re struggling to get attacks in without leaving yourself open to counters.
  • The Poison Element does damage over time – but to a greater degree than Fire.
  • The Paralysis Element freezes the target in place for a set time, letting you go wild.

Crucially, these elements can of course be deployed against William, too, so you’ll want to watch out you don’t get caught by something nasty. Hey, at least now you know what’s happening to you.

Amulets can add most varieties of elemental damage to your weapon. A Fire Amulet will add the effect of fire to your weapon, for instance, making that hitting with the weapon will apply the fire elemental effect to the enemy you hit – as long as they’re vulnerable to it.

If you’re clever and quick you can toss together multiple elemental effects – a combination of Earth and Wind can lead to a really vulnerable enemy who you can rush down in a way that’d be otherwise impossible, for instance. Experiment with the elements against those enemies and bosses that give you trouble to find what makes them crumble.

Arm yourself wisely and learn your enemies’ weaknesses, and elemental effects can be the saving grace you need to transform Nioh from a nightmare to something far more manageable. This is the edge you’ve been looking for.
