May 21, 2012  So I've been playing AP teemo lately, and I can't see why you'd build any actual AD items on him. I understand focusing on attack speed with some AP, but because of his E adding mgc dmg to his auto attacks he gets the feel of having ad auto attack dmg, and his mushrooms kick ass.

Can someone please explain to me how when Pantheon {{champion:80}} has his passive up, and blocks Teemo's {{champion:17}} toxic shot.. why the poison still ticks damage? I know the poison shot is an ability, but I have the same complaint with it. I block the shot and then still lose 30% hp from the poison.Patch notes:> Historically, the way empowered basic attacks would affect their target if they'd fail to hit (due to Teemo's Blinding Dart, Pantheon's Aegis of Zeonia, or Jax's Counterstrike) has been pretty inconsistent. In some cases they'd do nothing, in others they'd apply crowd control (but no damage) and in a few they'd just ignore the status altogether. We've retooled these to more consistently meet expectations: if one of the following empowered basic attack misses its target, it won't deal any damage or apply any other effects. In cases where this is tied to a buff, that buff will be consumed as well.I thought Pantheon's passive would block the blinding shot (its blind and DOT dmg) altogether, or at the very least block the damage but still attach the Blind.. but it is extremely frustrating playing pantheon where the attack is blocked and my damage still ticks down 30%.Can someone please explain if this is intended or an oversight?Other examples are like Vayne's {{champion:67}} W.. The attack is blocked but the Silver ring is still added. I haven't tested it, but I'm assuming Nautilus passive would still root.Each are different, but I wanted to know if these are intended.. primarily the Teemo Blinding Dart and his Toxic Shot. I know the patch notes say Empowered attacks which would really just be the Toxic Shot.. but I wanted thoughts on both.Thank you.

This is the way I see it, AP Teemo can only go so far. Your only two nukes are your blinding dart and your mushrooms. You go in and blind someone and you're somewhat forced to run away for 5-8 seconds while your blind is on cooldown and your E has horrible scaling. If they do chase you and run into a single shroom, they probably will retreat after that. As for shrooms, once the other team buys oracles, your shrooms become less effective. In a teamfight situation, Teemo's short range will be the death of him since he's so squishy if you build pure AP with no form of defense. Also with the meta being tanky DPS meta, the shrooms just won't be hurting too much. I love playing teemo, and I used to play him AP, but unless you can end the game early, you slowly start to become less and less effective. AD teemo on the other hand with items such as wriggles, frozen mallet, and madreds and the E. You can basically chunk their health forever while keeping yourself sustained and maintain a good amount of bulkiness. Black Cleaver, Madreds will tear anyone a part
tl;dr. AP teemo loses effectiveness late game, AD teemo doesn't.
