Can't delete folder after failed git clone. Ask Question. I'm trying to clone a git repo. I'm using cygwin on a windows 7 OS. Somehow, it fails, but create a folder. When I try to delete it, got this message: rmdir: fallo al borrar «myRepoName/»: Device or resource busy. I can't delete it. Sep 02, 2009 If you have a Mac without a functioning DVD drive (or a MacBook Air), you’ll need to find another way to upgrade to Snow Leopard, thankfully this is very easy, all you’ll need is an external firewire or USB hard drive. I accidentally deleted my efi partition, which I now know is bad news bears. I found a guide here to restore it without losing data, but even though I'm booting from usb and have unmounted all part. Nov 18, 2019 Hello, I'm trying to restore an old Hard Drive image OS.dmg to a usb hard drive that I have. I'm using the command: dd if=/Users/Shared/OS.dmg of=/dev/disk5 bs=1m And I'm getting dd: /dev/disk5: Resource busy What would cause this error? I'm not sure why it's 'busy' Thanks Josh PS. I get the exact same thing when i try to do it in DiskUtility.

OS X :: Won't Modify Resource Folder / Getting Error
May 24, 2009I am trying to change the default blue apple icon on my menu bar to a flowery apple. I followed a procedure online and have saved my Extras.rsrc and Extras2.rsrc files to the desktop, the first in PPC and the second in Intel, yet I cannot seem to move these files back into the Resources Folder. When I try to copy and paste them or insert them into the folder I get an error with a number and the message 'this folder is not modifiable'. Does anyone know where I can go from here to change my apple icon?

OS X :: Restoring From A Disc Image?
Jan 23, 2010So I had to have my macbook pro HDD replaced (applecare) and I made a disc image backup beforehand and put it on my external HDD.
I just picked it up from the apple store today, and called tech support for help with restoring it from the disc image. I was instructed to put the install disc in and boot holding the 'c' key, then go to disc utilities, to the restore tab, find the image as a source, and then drag the internal HDD volume to the destination field. It didnt work, so I was transferred to a senior advisor, who told me to do the same thing. The only time it would work is if I dragged the indented one that reads 'Macintosh HD' instead of the one with the GB size and brand name. The senior advisor told me that it wouldnt work for him either (dragging the volume) and dragging the macintosh HD isnt how it's supposed to work, so he couldnt guarantee a proper result. It didnt work anyway. I dont remember the error message.
So he starts telling me that the best option might be to install the operating system from the discs, update to 10.5.8, and then just copy the 'user' folder and then move everything where it is supposed to be. I wasnt particularly impressed and I'm not convinced that it has to be that difficult or time consuming.
Applications :: Restoring Backup Image To New Mac
Jun 4, 2009I take total bootable backups of my macbook pro with superduper application, to an external hard disk. In a few months I plan to buy a new mbp, and I would like to know if it is possible to 'copy' my whole osx system environment(applications, data, everything) to the new machine, using this superduper backup, with the appropriate restoration process.
Can I boot the mac from the external hard disk, then run superduper, and use 'copy' option of superduper to copy the osx environment from external hard disk to internal hard disk? I think that everything should work fine but I do not know if it will appear any new hardware/configuration problem.
OS X V10.7 Lion :: Restoring HDD Via Clone Image
Jun 20, 2012I've been trying to partition my drive to use bootcamp for the past 3 days now. I've done this before with ease and let me just say Apple (usually) makes this very simple.
I have 10.7, all updated and working properly with no disk errors (repaired/verified). Disk Utility won't partition my 500gb HDD into a 100gb windows partition along with a ~400gb OSX one, says some files cannot be moved. So everything I've read says to image the HDD (image saved on USB external terrabyte), restore to it via disk utility on boot from the image, and then to partition.
I created the image of Mac OSX successfully and saved it on the external. I rebooted and got into Disk Utility, selected the image in the left column, marked it as the source image, and then chose my internal HDD as the destination.
From the looks of it, I've done it all correctly. But I keep getting the same error.. it says it needs to scan the image, I let it, and it goes for about an hour or two with the subscript 'Block Checksum Partition #X'. In this case, it is at #2, and when it gets toward the end of the scan, an error pops up saying 'unable to scan (internal error)'.

OS X :: Restoring Disk Image And Partitioning To Install Win7
Nov 8, 2009I recently decided to partition my hard drive on my macbook in order to install Windows 7, but upon doing so I was greeted with a message informing me that some files couldn't be moved and that I would have to reformat my HD. I created a backup disk image using disk utility and proceeded to erase and reinstall my OS. My OS is now reinstalled but I don't know how to go about using my backup to add all my old preferences, files, and applications. I've tried using restore through the disk utility but it isn't allowing me to do so. All I want are my old files and the ability to partition my drive!
Windows On Mac :: Restoring Boot Camp Image To SSD With WinClone?
May 23, 2010I've got Windows 7 x64 Ultimate installed on my Crucial C300 SSD in the OptiBay drive and have backed up the image using WinClone prior to updating the SSD firmware. When checking the WinClone forums I noted that users have reported they were unable to restore their Boot Camp images to an SSD via WinClone. Some have even bricked their drives and have had to have them replaced.
Has anyone had success with the latest version or should I avoid restoring my WinClone image and perform a clean installation from scratch?
OS X :: Deleted Private Folder - Keep Getting Error While Restoring
May 2, 2010I deleted my private folder. It's still in the trash, and it's also in my applications folder if that makes a difference. I turned off my mac and now I can't boot it back up. I have a new Macbook Pro with Snow Leopard, and I have the install disk but I can't get the computer to start up with it.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Error Occurred While Restoring From The TimeMachine Backup
May 16, 2012I have an brand new HD that I want to restore from TimeMachine. Erased and partitioned this brand new drive. Created 2 partitions and formatted as “OS Extended Journaled/ GUID.”
Did a “Command R recovery boot” and went through the steps to backup from TM to my new HD. 15 seconds into the restoration process Msg. reads: “Error occurred while restoring from the backup.Restart your computer and then try restoring again.”
Trouble shooting:
Luckily my original files and initial boot drive that TM was backing up from remains fine and I performed some more TM back ups as well as a TM backup onto another drive as well.
I even tried restoring to another empty drive with older backups and backups off of another HD and got the same error message. All my BU’s and BU attempts have been within 10.7.3 on the same MP.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Restoring Backed Up ICal Folder To Desktop - Copy Permission Error
Mar 24, 2012I'm attempting to recover from the popular iCloud mistake 'Deleting the wrong calendar'. I am able to locate the Folder located in the Library of my Time Machine backup, and when I attempt to 'Restore to' 'Desktop' I receive the following error:
This particular file name is actually located in one of the folders, in the Calendar Folders, and is just one of the many events I would like to restore to my calendar, and the copy operation aborts when I click OK. Each time I retry this a different .ics file is the issue.
Investigating file permissions reveals nothing pertinent that I can see, because I am not attempting to cross any boundaries e.g. I'm in the user account and searching in the same user account, I wish to import Calendar Folder to.

Hardware :: Time Machine Error - Disk Image Cannot Be Mounted?
Oct 29, 2009My files were backing up for about a day, had 75gb of 100gb done and then my power went out. It cancelled out, and then when it came back on I tried to resume it. It started to backup 25gb, which I'm assuming is just the last 25gb that it had to do. Anyway, it did that for a while then stopped, and now when I try to backup, it says: 'Time Machine Error: The backup disk image could not be mounted.'
How do I backup the rest of my stuff? Do I have to start over? And is there a way to make it transfer faster? I mean, there's no way to directly connect it to your computer, is there? Also, in the Time Machine settings thing, it says 'Available: 839.8GB of 929.5GB. Does that mean it has 839gb of my 929gb backed up? What happened to the other 71gb? I just want my stuff to be backed up, why is this so complicated?

Windows On Mac :: How To Connect To Network Resource

How can I do this with a Mac?
